About me

Art & Philosophy in Disguise

Students with any talent in mathematics are often shuffled into technical careers. Since grade 2, I was encouraged to love STEM. I loved learning anything, so I went along for the ride. I earned a Bachelor of Science in Physics and Mathematics. I found so much beauty in the material, and a sort of channel to talk with the universe around us. My math skills got me excellent grades, but I was dreaming in my head between classes and homework about the art and philosophy of it all.

healing our environment

After 4 years studying in college, I looked up from my books and saw big challenges in the real world. Compelled to help with climate change, I obtained a Master of Science in Sustainability Engineering at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, the third best engineering program in the country at the time. I specialized in Renewable Energy with a second Masters at the best engineering school in France.

For five years, I worked in a solar energy company, analyzing weather data to predict viability of new solar farms. I supported over 1000 Megawatts of solar energy getting into the ground—more than 100,000 homes. And I wanted to get even more solar built. But something inside me was calling for change in my life.

healing our lives

In the last 6 months of my solar energy career, I thought hard about what self-care and authenticity look like. I knew I would not find it at my current job, however fulfilling and wonderful my colleagues were, so I left the team in good hands and took leave. I have since tried many healing tools such as writing, painting, meditation, breathwork, therapy, being in nature, joining communities, and much more. Through this journey, I learned to better listen to what the voice inside me wants.

I am now finding great joy and sense of authentic-self in creating stories and compelling visuals to foster understanding of ourselves, of others, and of our beautiful natural world. Let me help share your story!
